The victim whose remains were found in a burned-out car Sunday was a Brooklyn man who died from a gunshot wound, Suffolk police said Monday.

The body of Felix Roberto Hidalgo Jacquez, 40, was discovered in a silver SUV that was burning in a Medford parking lot behind stores at 2265 Route 112, police said. A 911 caller had reported the vehicle fire at 3:28 p.m., police said, and it was quickly put out by firefighters.

Police are trying to determine if the SUV belonged to Jacquez and if there is any video footage from surrounding stores, a homicide investigator said.

Homicide detectives ask anyone with information to call at 631-852-6392.
