House Speaker John Boehner will headline a fundraiser Saturday for Republican Lee Zeldin, who is running against Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) in New York's 1st Congressional District.

Boehner (R-Ohio) will stump for Zeldin, of Shirley, at a private afternoon reception in Bridgehampton at the home of developer Joe Farrell.

The fundraiser comes as a recent Siena College/Newsday/News 12 poll shows Bishop leading Zeldin by 10 points among district voters in what political observers consider to be a competitive race.

Co-chairmen for the fundraiser include Randy Altschuler, a St. James businessman who twice ran unsuccessfully against Bishop; former New York City mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis; and state GOP chairman Ed Cox.
