Suffolk police detectives are investigating a bomb threat that caused the brief evacuation of Patchogue-Medford High School on Monday morning, district officials said.
Emergency Services Unit officers from the Suffolk County police were called to the scene, and detectives were investigating the incident, officials said.
"The district is following normal procedures for this process to assess whether it's a credible threat," said Frederick McKenna, administrative assistant to the district superintendent.
The threat was first reported at about 8 a.m. Students returned to the school about an hour later "after nothing suspicious was found," police said.
