A 4-year-old boy was hospitalized Sunday after falling into a pool in Hauppauge, Suffolk police said.

The boy was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center and listed in critical, but stable condition, police said.

He was pulled from the pool by his father, who performed CPR, police said.

Officers responded to the Mount Pleasant Road home about 2 p.m. and continued the CPR, police said.

Police Sunday night said they did not know if the pool belonged to the family or how the boy fell into the pool.
