Crime scene investigators probe the damaged bicycle that a 12-year-old boy was riding when he was struck by a car in front of 246 Skidmore Road in Deer Park around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. An 11-year-old boy riding a bicycle across a street in Deer Park was hospitalized with serious head injuries after a collision between his bike and a car, Suffolk police said.

The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was riding across Skidmore Road about 20 feet south of Maida Avenue when the bicycle collided with a 2003 Honda Civic driven by a woman, police said. The police withheld the names of the boy and the driver.

The boy was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, in West Islip, for treatment.

No charges were filed against the driver.
