Brentwood man faces drug, fireworks charges
A Brentwood man stopped for using his cellphone while driving faces drug charges, State Police said Wednesday.
James Santana, 25, is charged with criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of fireworks, police said.
He is scheduled to appear Jan. 10 at First District Court in Central Islip.
Santana was driving a black Chrysler 300 at about 10 p.m. Tuesday on Crooked Hill Road in Brentwood when police stopped him, according to a news release.
Troopers smelled the odor of marijuana, and a search of the car resulted in more than 25 grams of marijuana and a "small amount of fireworks," the release said.
Santana also is charged with several traffic violations, police said.
