A Mastic man was arrested Friday in connection with the robbery of a Capital One bank in Shirley on Monday, Suffolk police said.

Pattern Crime Unit detectives said Brian Makosiej, 39, was charged with third-degree robbery and was being held overnight at the Seventh Precinct for arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Central Islip. Witness statements and video surveillance led to the arrest, police said, adding that he was collared on a Mastic street.

His attorney could not be reached for comment.

Makosiej, police said, entered the branch at 800 Montauk Hwy. about 5 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash. The teller complied and the suspect fled south through the parking lot.
