Suffolk County police increased patrols at the Brookhaven Fair in Medford on Saturday after the fair had to be shut down during a melee Friday night.

The clash started about 9:40 p.m. at the fair on Long Island Avenue, just east of Route 112, Suffolk police said. Officers from the Fifth and Sixth precincts and highway patrol officers descended on the scene.

The Long Island Expressway eastbound service road at Exit 64, which is Route 112, was closed off as officers handled the fight, police said. Officers remained at the scene overnight into Saturday to determine what happened.

When reached Saturday night, police said they did not know what caused the fight. There were no injuries and no arrests, they said earlier Saturday.

The fair was set to run through Saturday night, Sunday and Memorial Day.

Also, no parking is allowed on Long Island Avenue or Express Drive South, police said Saturday. Anyone parking outside designated lots will be ticketed and could be towed.
