Brookhaven man hit, killed by SUV
Suffolk County police are looking for two people who might have witnessed a motor-vehicle accident that killed a pedestrian Tuesday in Brookhaven.
Police said in a Wednesday news release that James Redman, 81, was walking on Old South Country Road at about 12:45 p.m. when he was struck by Lynn Leistman, 71, who was backing out of her driveway in a 2010 Toyota Highlander.
Redman, of Old South Country Road, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he died a short time later, police said. Leistman, of Old South Country Road, was not injured.
Police said two other pedestrians were out walking at the time of the crash and wanted them to contact the Fifth Squad, which is investigating.
