Brookhaven Town to consider razing three Mastic homes

The Brookhaven Town Board is set to discuss and possibly vote on a variety of issues at its meeting Thursday, including a resolution drawing attention to cancer, disposing of old cellphones and demolishing unsafe homes.

Officials have deemed a trio of Mastic homes unsafe and have set separate public hearings at the 5 p.m. meeting on whether to knock down each of the homes.

Brookhaven may also vote to enter a municipal agreement with Patchogue Fire District to tear down a structure at 29 Jennings Ave.

In addition, Supervisor Edward P. Romaine will sponsor a pair of resolutions: one to declare September as National Children's Cancer Awareness Month in the town, and another to authorize the information technology department to dispose of old cellphones.

The Thursday meeting will be at Brookhaven Town Hall, 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville.
