Brother of suspect in nun's death arrested

The brother of the fugitive suspected in the hit-and-run death of a nun in Water Mill has been arrested and charged with lying to federal investigators, officials said Tuesday.
Miguel Ixpec-Chitay was arrested on a felony false-statements charge for telling an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer he had not been in contact with the suspect, authorities said.
A criminal complaint alleges Ixpec-Chitay told authorities on July 13 he had "not called or received a call" from his brother for weeks. But records show 19 phone calls between him and his brother on July 9-10, according to the complaint filed Thursday.
Carlos Armando Ixpec-Chitay, 30, is accused of driving a car that struck and killed Sister Jacqueline Walsh on July 9. The suspect, a Guatemalan national, fled New York and is still being sought by authorities.
The car driven by Carlos Ixpec-Chitay, a 2009 Volkswagen Touareg belonging to his employer, Andrew Zaro, was found abandoned with front end damage about a half-mile from Walsh's body.
