A 21-year-old Calverton woman was arrested Tuesday night in a hit-and-run accident in Flanders that left a man seriously injured on Mother's Day.

Southampton Town police said Jacqueline F. Celentano was arrested Tuesday for her involvement in the Sunday accident, which seriously injured Aaron Hartmann, 23. Police said Hartmann was walking to his home when he was struck on County Road 105 in Flanders at 12:51 a.m.

Celentano's 2000 Chevrolet Impala was located at a home in Riverside and impounded, police said.

As of Wednesday, police said Hartmann was still hospitalized at Stony Brook University Hospital, having been transferred there from the Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead.

The extent of his injuries was not known, but police described them as "serious."

Police said that after striking Hartmann, Celentano fled the scene leaving him "for dead."

It wasn't immediately clear what led detectives to Celentano, who faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident with physical injury, a felony. Celentano is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Southampton Town Justice Court.
