The five candidates running for two seats on the Huntington School Board answered questions from residents at a meet-the-candidates event Thursday night.

Jim Cahill, Jen Hebert, Adam Spector, Susan Tully and school board president Bill Dwyer answered questions for about an hour at the event hosted by the Huntington chapter of the NAACP at the South Huntington Library.

Questions ranged from money spent on attorneys to fight a senior-housing development, AvalonBay, two of the district's schools, the Schools in Need of Improvement list and the Jack Abrams School.

Because one candidate withdrew from the race after the petition deadline to run had closed, the deadline was extended until May 4. Resident will vote to put two of the candidates on the board for three-year terms May 17.
