A passenger was seriously injured in a two-car crash in Bay Shore Thursday night, Suffolk County police said.

Around 11:25 p.m., a 2009 Honda Accord was traveling north on Fifth Avenue when another vehicle traveling south made a left onto Smith Street in front of the Honda.

The Honda swerved across Fifth Avenue into the southbound lanes and was struck on the passenger side by a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, police said in a news release.

Erica Camacho, 22, of Brentwood, a passenger in the Honda, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries, including injuries to the head, police said.

The 19-year-old driver of the Honda, also of Brentwood, and the 33-year-old driver of the Hyundai, of Bay Shore, were taken to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
