Eastbound LIE reopens in Manorville after car fire, DOT says
A car fire forced the temporary closure of two lanes of the eastbound Long Island Expressway in Manorville on Tuesday, officials said.
The lanes reopened about 10 a.m. after closing because of the fire, according to the state Department of Transportation website.
The fire was reported in a 911 call at 9:07 a.m., according to Suffolk County police.
Police said the location was between Exit 69 and Exit 70.
The vehicle involved was a Jeep Cherokee, and police said reports from the scene were that all occupants had evacuated the vehicle, which was stopped on the shoulder.
