A Toyota Corolla collided with a school bus in Central Islip Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said, and the driver of the Corolla has been taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The crash occurred on Prospect Avenue near Tamarack Street at about 4 p.m., police said. The five children and the driver aboard the bus at the time were not injured.

Police said the male driver of the Corolla hit the bus as it was traveling southbound on Prospect Avenue. No further information was immediately available, and police said there appears to be no criminality in the crash.
