A woman backing out of her driveway early Monday in Deer Park hit the gas instead of the brake and rammed into her neighbor's house, Suffolk County police said.

There were no injuries in the incident on Scott Avenue, which happened at about 6:40 a.m., police said.

Police originally responded to a report that the driver had run off. Apparently, a witness at the scene mistakenly thought a jogger on the block was the driver running away, a police spokeswoman said.

In another car-runs-into-house accident, a young driver in Huntington Station missed a turn Sunday in a residential neighborhood and drove a late-model Chevrolet into an attached garage.

Gary Hatton, first assistant chief for the Huntington Manor Fire Department, said there were no injuries in the 6 p.m. accident at the corner of Tippin Drive and 11th Avenue.

"We responded to make sure the house wasn't going to fall down or anything like that," Hatton said. "It was a young driver who apparently did not make the turn, went into a bush and then the side of the house."
