Authorities have arrested a Central Islip man who they say shot a Copiague man in North Amityville last month.

Suffolk County Police and the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force on Monday arrested Rashad Woolridge, 25, of 34 Apple St. in the shooting of Christopher Sawyer, 29, of Copiague, on Oct. 20, Suffolk police said.

Sawyer was shot in his leg, hip and lower back on Great Neck Road in North Amityville at about 5 p.m. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was treated for his injuries.

First Squad detectives arrested Woolridge at about 1:40 p.m. Monday. He has been charged with first-degree assault and first-degree criminal use of a firearm. Woolridge is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
