Central Islip man critical after shooting
Detectives in Suffolk County say a Central Islip man was wounded during a shooting outside a Patchogue bar Thanksgiving morning.
Maurice James, 30, was shot once in the torso, police said, and is likely to survive. He was listed in critical but stable condition at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue.
The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. outside the Attitudes Bar and Grill, 485 Waverly Ave., Patchogue.
Police say James had gotten into "an altercation" both verbal and physical with individuals and one of them took out a gun and shot him.
The gun hasn't been recovered, and detectives haven't been able to interview James.
