A Central Islip man was arrested Monday after State Police said he threw something at another vehicle on the Southern State Parkway.

The incident occurred at 8:50 a.m. in West Babylon near Exit 38, Belmont Lake State Park.

Police said a trooper responding to a call found a driver stopped on the eastbound side of the parkway and learned the vehicle had been damaged by an object thrown by another motorist.

The driver said "the operator of a blue Mercury threw something from his vehicle, striking his vehicle."

Police located the car on Sunrise Highway and arrested Timothy Cummings, 31, of 320 Locust St. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. His arraignment details were not immediately available.
