Stacy Worlds hit by car, killed crossing Central Islip street, police say
A Central Islip woman was struck and killed crossing Carleton Avenue in Central Islip on Saturday night, Suffolk County police said.
Stacy Worlds, 51, of Carleton Avenue, was walking west between Earle and Elmore streets around 9 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound 2008 Hyundai Sonata, according to a news release.
Worlds was pronounced dead at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, police said.
The driver of the Hyundai, Jose Claros, 59, of Bay Shore, remained at the scene and was not injured. No criminal charges were filed, according to police.
