A driver stopped for a traffic violation Monday morning in Mattituck turned out to be a wanted man, police said.

Cesar Chavez-Ruiz, 28, of Mattituck, was arrested after the stop on Route 25 at 9:17 a.m. and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle -- after Southold Town police discovered he had a suspended driver's license.

A records check also found that Chavez-Ruiz had an active warrant from Southold Town Justice Court and an immigration "hold" issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Details of that hold were not immediately available.

Chavez-Ruiz now faces arraignment Tuesday in Southold Town Justice Court.
