Chance of flurries on Long Island
Occasional flurries are possible Wednesday afternoon, with a higher chance of flurries or snow showers after 3 p.m., said John Murray, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
If anything, Long Island would get a dusting that would taper off by midnight, he said. The day's high temperature is forecast to be 40 degrees, and the chance of precipitation is 30 percent, according to the weather service based at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton.
Thursday's temperatures are expected to be in the upper 40s -- make that low to mid-40s for Long Island's East End, Murray said.
On the horizon for late Friday night? Possibly more light snow, he said, and 30 degree temperatures into the weekend.
