There's a slight chance of light snow Saturday night into Sunday, the National Weather Service said, but not before mild temperatures during the day Friday and Saturday.

A low-pressure system coming into the area overnight Saturday could bring colder temperatures and a chance of light snow, said Ashley Sears, a meteorologist with the service.

Friday's high is expected to be about 50 degrees with slightly lower temperatures Saturday. But the low Saturday night is expected to dip to about 33 degrees, so the "conservative" forecast is a slight chance of snow, Sears said.

"Right now, it depends on the tracking of a low-pressure system in the South," Sears said. If the system stays southerly it is likely the precipitation will be mostly rain, she said.

Chance of precipitation for Sunday before 8 a.m. is 30 percent to 40 percent, the service said.

If any snow does accumulate, it likely will be gone by late morning, when temperatures are expected to be in the high 30s to low 40s.
