A Plainview hotel was temporarily evacuated Monday following a chemical spill, officials said.

Around 1:40 p.m., an employee of the Homewood Suites by Hilton-Melville on Round Swamp Road in Plainview spilled pool chemicals, Suffolk County police said.

The spill was treated as a “hazmat situation” and the hotel was then “temporarily evacuated” a police spokesperson said in an email Monday evening.

The male employee was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment of “non-life-threatening injuries,” the spokesperson added. Another individual who police did not identify was evaluated at the scene.

In addition to Suffolk police and members of the Melville Fire Department, first responders from the Hicksville and Plainview fire departments — both across the county line — responded, Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services officials confirmed.

The situation was deemed under control around 2:35 p.m., Suffolk FRES officials said.
