Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, based in Westhampton Beach, helps treat cold-stunned sea turtles
Chief scientist of the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society Rob DiGiovanni explains how the society is helping to rehabilitate cold-stunned sea turtles. A surprising number of turtles have perished — many lured into staying in the Northeast by the unusual warm spells and then stunned when seasonal cold returns — before washing ashore on Cape Cod, and then being flown to Long Island and other rescues for treatment, experts said.
