A Shirley man backing his pickup truck out of his driveway Saturday morning struck and killed a 3-year-old boy in the road, Suffolk police said.

Jayson Dulay was backing up in a 2018 Toyota Tundra on Floyd Road North at 10:30 a.m. when he struck Kameron Wilson, of New York City, police said in a news release.

Dulay and a passenger in the truck called 911 and tried to perform CPR on Kameron.

A Mastic Ambulance took the boy to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue and then to Stony Brook University Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The truck was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information is asked to call Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
