It'll be a cold morning for a parade. But forecasters at the National Weather Service say that rain, sleet and even trace amounts of snow predicted for Thanksgiving will likely hold off until the late afternoon.

Thanksgiving Day temperatures are expected to remain in the 40s, forecasters said. The chance of rain is 50 percent, but it will likely come after 4 p.m.

Forecasters said a line of rain, sleet and even snow will move east through New Jersey on Thanksgiving. Some of that weather may come to Long Island, though it's most likely there will be only rain with clearing skies Friday.

Weather on Wednesday will be clear and in the mid-40s. A gale warning has been issued for boaters off the South Shore in the Atlantic, with predicted seas of 4-6 feet and winds of up to 25 knots late Wednesday, with seas of 2-3 feet expected Thursday.

Wednesday night, overnight temperatures are expected to dip into the mid- to upper 20s.
