A 21-year-old liquor store clerk in Hampton Bays was arrested earlier this week and charged with selling the alcohol-based drink Four Loko to an underage undercover operative during a crackdown sting, State Police said.

Robert Canecchio of Hampton Bays was charged with prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage and first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child.

Arraignment details were not immediately available.

Police said that Canecchio sold Four Loko to the operative Monday evening at Hampton Beverage on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

The sting operation was part of a crackdown initiative to identify businesses that sell alcohol to minors, police said.
