A 41-year-old crewman on a vessel 60 miles southeast of Montauk was airlifted Friday to Stony Brook University Hospital, after the man experienced tingling and numbness in his left arm, as well as chest pains, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received an 8:56 a.m. call from the Decisive, a cable-laying vessel, with an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter launched at 10:10 a.m. from Air Station Cape Cod, the Coast Guard said in a news release.

The chopper arrived on the scene at 10:51 a.m., with crew successfully hoisting the man in need of assistance from the Decisive's deck, officials said.

The man is in stable condition, the Coast Guard said.
