The Coast Guard on Friday morning came to the aid of two passengers on a sailboat in the Atlantic Ocean off Long Island, one who had fallen ill and the other who was injured, the agency said.

Watch standers at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received word at about 9:30 a.m. that a 36-year-old woman aboard a sailboat named Flirtation "was experiencing symptoms of severe dehydration," the Coast Guard said in a news release.

A rescue crew on a 29-foot response boat, with an EMT from East Moriches Fire Department aboard, responded to the boat a few miles south of Moriches Inlet, the Coast Guard said.

Upon arrival the crew found that a 62-year-old woman also needed assistance because she had fallen in the cabin, injuring her face, officials said.

"Both women were brought aboard the rescue boat and transferred to an awaiting ambulance at Station East Moriches," the Coast Guard said in a statement.

The Coast Guard did not say where they were taken from there.
