A motorist fleeing police hit another car Wednesday night in Copiague, injuring the driver of the second car, Suffolk County police said.

Officers tried to stop a 2013 Honda sedan that was northbound on Great Neck Road at 8:40 p.m. for a traffic violation, police said.

The Honda sped away, and the driver lost control on the Sunrise Highway overpass, crossed the divider and hit an oncoming 2013 Toyota sedan, police said.

The driver of the Honda fled on foot, police said.

The woman driving the Toyota was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Images from the scene showed two damaged cars — one of them ablaze.

A police spokesman could not say to which driver the burning car belonged.
