A Copiague man, charged with killing an Islip man who was shot "at least seven times" outside a Wyandanch home, was ordered jailed without bail Wednesday, authorities said.

Prosecutors said Boyd Holland, 22, gunned down Eric Brooks, 35, on May 9, 2012. Court papers signal that police think Holland may not have acted alone, saying he was "acting in concert with others" when he shot Brooks.

Brooks' relatives said Wednesday he was shot as he left his girlfriend's home on North 22nd Street. At the time, his family said that Brooks had stepped out of the house to make a phone call.

Holland, 22, who has two felony convictions and failures to appear, was arrested Tuesday in Orlando, Florida, by the Suffolk County police homicide squad, aided by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

He was charged with second-degree murder during his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.

An attorney entered a plea of not guilty and he is scheduled to return to court Friday.

Brooks' family said he had been released from prison on Dec. 23, 2011, after serving 7 years on drug charges, and was trying to rebuild a relationship with his family.

Several of Brooks' family members and friends at the arraignment, including his daughter and mother, were too emotional to speak to reporters, they said.

Brooks' uncle Willie Clark, 53, of Bay Shore said the family still did not know why his nephew was gunned down.

"It's not going to bring him back," Clark said outside court of Holland's arrest. "But I commend the police for bringing him to justice."
