The Fourth Precinct crime section is searching for a pair of face-cream robbers, men who in January stole about $1,000 worth of the cosmetic from two Suffolk County pharmacy stores, Suffolk County police said Wednesday in a crime alert.
Police have released photographs of the men taken from video surveillance at the two pharmacy stores.
On Jan. 20, a man with a limp and wearing a black, puffy coat took about 15 boxes of Olay Professional Pro-X skin care cream from a CVS Pharmacy on Fort Salonga Road in East Northport, police said.
The man put the boxes, valued at $40 each, in a light blue bag, police said, then left the store without paying for the merchandise. Police said he left in a silver or gold four-door Pontiac.
The same type of car was seen fleeing a Kings Park CVS store the next night after two men stole 12 boxes of the same cosmetic at around 7 p.m., police said.
A police spokeswoman said investigators are not sure why the men were stealing a face cream specifically designed for women. "What can I tell you," she said.
Anyone with information on the two face-cream bandits can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
