Cops: 2 Riverhead clerks sold alcohol to minors
Two store clerks sold alcoholic beverages to underage customers in a Thanksgiving weekend drinking enforcement operation in Riverhead, State Police said Monday.
The clerks -- Felix Jerez-Estevez, 46, of the Bronx; and Breny Castillo, 21, of Freeport -- were issued tickets to appear at Riverhead Town Court on an unspecified date, police said.
Each is charged with unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage.
Jerez-Estevez sold to an underage agent at the Time To Eat Café, 123 W. Main St. in Riverhead, police said.
Castillo sold to an agent at Riverhead Supermarket & Deli, 945 W. Main St. in Riverhead, police said.
Twelve other businesses were targeted and were in compliance, police said. Those stores are: Polish Town Corner Deli; Main Street Quick Stop; Lucky Wine & Liquor; Stop N Go Mini Mart; Peconic Wine & Liquor; OK Gas Mini Mart; Village Delicatessen; MG Deli; Mae's Deli; Village Grocery; Railroad Market & Grocery; and Oscar Deli & Grocery.
