Suffolk police Sunday arrested two teens they suspect in a vandalism spree in which more than 100 vehicles in Huntington, Lloyd Harbor and Cold Spring Harbor were damaged over the past month.

Saturday night alone, police said, 25 vehicles were hit.

"They were doing extensive damage . . . smashing windows out, denting the cars," Det. Sgt. Richard Auspaker said. "They also have been damaging numerous mailboxes in the area."

Police said an officer was on patrol in Huntington when he was given a description of a vehicle that had been seen after recent acts of criminal mischief. The officer found the 2009 Nissan SUV on Oakwood Road near Pulaski Road early Sunday.

Inside he found Jake Cassidy, 18, of Wilton Rd. in Cold Spring Harbor, and a 14-year-old boy, police said. The two were arrested shortly after 8:30 a.m., charged with damaging a 1995 Volvo 850 on Maple Place in Huntington earlier in the day.

Police charged each of the teens with 10 counts of criminal mischief and Cassidy was also charged with soliciting the 14-year-old to commit a felony.

Cassidy was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in First District Court in Central Islip, police said. The 14-year-old was released to the custody of his parents and will appear in Family Court in Hauppauge at a later date.
