Cops: 4 charged in Babylon Town car break-ins
Four people operating in pairs have been arrested after they stole items from parked cars in similar but unrelated cases in the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County police said Thursday.
Danielle Giannini, 30, of Kings Park, and Justin Llewellyn, 23, whom police said is homeless, were arrested at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday after police said the two were found with stolen items, including cellphones, GPS units, laptops, iPods and a silverware set in their vehicle.
The two were followed by a man and his son, who first saw the pair on Ketewamoke Avenue in Babylon and followed them in their car, police said. Police also said they received a 911 call about the suspects.
The items had been reported stolen from Suffolk and Nassau counties over the past few weeks, police said.
On Thursday, police arrested Travis Miller, 26, of the Bronx, and Dominique Florea, 24, of Dix Hills, after another 911 caller reported suspects in a small, black vehicle breaking into cars at about 12:19 a.m. on Nantucket Lane in Deer Park.
Officers Gardy Wool, Christopher Mills, Kevin Clark and Jerome LaCorte canvassed the neighborhood and found the car, with three BB guns, a briefcase, speakers, clothing and personal papers, police said.
Police said the items came from four vehicles in the area that were broken into and that seven vehicles overall had their windows broken.
Giannini and Llewellyn are each charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property. Both were arraigned Thursday and held in Suffolk jail pending bail. Giannini's bail was set at $5,000 cash or $15,000 bond, and Llewellyn's was $75,000 cash bail and $225,000 bond.
Miller and Florea are each charged with seven counts of criminal mischief and four counts of criminal possession of stolen property. Miller also is charged with driving while impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
They are scheduled to be arraigned Friday in First District Court.
