A collision with a van and a school bus carrying 16 students in Medford Thursday afternoon sent four middle schoolers and both drivers to the hospital, Suffolk police said.

The victims were being treated for minor injuries at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, police said.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. when a Chrysler van going north on County Route 101 collided with the bus as it went west on Southaven Avenue, police said.

The children, ages 11 to 14, were from Bellport Middle School, police said.

No other details were available, a police spokesman said.
