Suffolk police are investigating the armed robberies of seven teenagers in Brentwood and Bay Shore who were either heading home from school or the mall, Suffolk police said Wednesday.

Two men, one armed with a black handgun, pulled off most of the robberies, which occurred Tuesday between about 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The robbers stole iPods, cash and cell phones on seven separate occasions, police said in a Wednesday news release.

The victims, between the ages of 14 and 19, were walking home from Brentwood High School, Bay Shore High School, or the South Shore Mall in Bay Shore, police said.

"These incidents are under investigation and it is not clear if the robberies are related," police said in the release.

Police described the suspects as men in their early 20s who wore black jackets and hooded sweatshirts. A new sedan or sport utility vehicle, possibly silver and with a tinted rear window, was used in some cases.

Anyone with information is urged to call Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
