Suffolk County police are seeking a suspect who took a cellphone off a card store counter and left the store without attempting to find the owner, police said.

The theft occurred about noon Feb. 2 at Shore Cards and Gifts on Howells Road in Brightwaters.

Police said that a customer in the store accidentally left his Android cellphone, worth about $300, on the counter and said the suspect then took it.

Though the suspect fled the store, the theft was caught on store surveillance video.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
