An Aquebogue man was ordered held on $25,000 bail after being charged with rape, Southold Town police said Monday.

Jeffrey Ireland, 50, was arrested at his residence and charged with rape in the third degree, criminal contempt and criminal trespass, police said in a statement.

The statement said the arrest shortly after 6 p.m. Friday came "during an investigation of a domestic incident." It gave no further details and Southold police did not immediately return a telephone call for comment.
