Three men in a car were arrested Tuesday after the driver refused to pull over for a police stop in East Moriches, then immediately crashed into a sign post, Suffolk police said.

The driver blew through a stop sign on Montauk Highway shortly after 10 a.m. and drove off when a patrol officer tried to stop him, police said.

The car crashed and the three inside tried to run away but were caught, police said.

Police did not release the names of the men but said the driver was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing of an officer and leaving the scene of an accident.

The two passengers were charged with obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest and criminal mischief, police said.
