Cops: Attacker sought in stabbing outside Calverton club

Police are searching for an assailant who stabbed a man early Sunday during a brawl outside a club in Calverton.

The 23-year-old victim, whose identity was not released, was transported by members of the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center. Police described his injuries as "non-life-threatening."

Riverhead Town police said officers from several agencies responded to the attack outside Cinco De Mayo on Middle Country Road at 3:36 a.m. Officers found upward of 100 people fighting in the parking lot, as well as in the parking lot of the nearby FedEx building.

Police found the stabbing victim at the scene.

Police said the victim named his assailant -- and that officers are searching for the man.

The attack occurred during what police said was "a highly publicized" club event dubbed the "90s Style Old School Hip-Hop R&B Party." Police are asking anyone with information regarding the stabbing to call them at 631-727-4500, Ext. 328.
