Police early Sunday arrested a Bay Shore man they believe was high on drugs after he fled a traffic stop, struck a police cruiser and caused minor injury to an officer, authorities said.

Officers attempted to pull over Albert Roberts, 48, at Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore around 1 a.m., but he took off in his '97 Chevy. He then hit a police car at Garden City Street and Ocean Avenue, authorities said, before ending up in a snow bank.

One officer suffered a minor hand injury while taking Roberts into custody.

Roberts was charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of burglar's tools, driving while impaired by drugs, and aggravated, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
