Cops: Bay Shore teen stabs fellow student at school
An 18-year-old student at the Bay Shore High School Alternative School was arrested Thursday after cutting another student in the abdomen at the school, Suffolk police said.
The injured 19-year-old student was transported to Southside Hospital for treatment of a nonlife-threatening injury, police said.
The altercation between the two students erupted at the rear courtyard of Bay Shore High School about 3:25 p.m., police said.
The 18-year-old was charged with second degree assault, and was to be held overnight in police custody for arraignment Friday in First District Court, Central Islip.
Suffolk police and detectives declined to release the name of the arrested teen, citing an ongoing investigation.
