A bicyclist was killed Friday night after he fell into the road and was struck by a car, Suffolk County police said.

Blake Behrens, 26, was riding a bike along Railroad Avenue in Ronkonkoma at about 8:34 p.m. when he fell over, police said.

A 2004 Dodge Caravan was westbound on Railroad Avenue, east of Smithtown Avenue, when it struck Behrens in the road, police said.

The Dodge’s driver, Steven Purrington, 75, of Bohemia, was not charged. Purrington and his wife, Joan, 72, a passenger in the Dodge, remained at the scene and did not have injuries.

Behrens, who police said had no known address, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue by the Holbrook Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Police said the investigation is continuing and are asking anyone with information to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
