Cops: Black Hawk helicopter lands on Miller Place sod farm

A National Guard helicopter with two people on board made an emergency landing Wednesday on a sod farm in Miller Place, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter had a cracked windshield caused by an access hatch at the front of the helicopter that came loose and banged against the windshield, according to Guard spokesman Eric Durr. The FAA had initially said it had possibly been a bird strike.
There were no injuries. Suffolk County police responded.
A police spokeswoman said the military helicopter landed near Andromeda Court and the DeLea Sod Farm on Route 25A.
She said police received a call about the landing at about 2:03 p.m. but had no other details. The FAA had no information about the helicopter's destination.
