Cops: Boy, 13, crashes car in Ridge
A 13-year-old boy crashed a car into the woods in Ridge on Friday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
The teenager, whose name was not released, was conscious but suffered head injuries and was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The crash occurred about 1:19 p.m. off Giant Oak Road, police said.
Information on whose car he was driving was not immediately available, but police said the incident is under investigation.
Under New York State law, children younger than 16 are not allowed to drive, even if they have a learner's permit or a driver's license from states that allow younger children behind the wheel.
