Cops: Boy on bike struck, dragged in Bellport hit-and-run
A 9-year-old boy is in serious condition after a hit-and-run driver struck him while he was riding his bicycle in Bellport Saturday night.
Suffolk Police have arrested Roberto Fuentes, 32, of East Patchogue, in connection with an accident at 8:38 p.m. at the corner of Patchogue Avenue and Post Avenue.
Fuentes, police said, was driving westbound on Patchogue Avenue and failed to stop at the stop sign at Post Avenue. He struck another car and caromed into the boy on his bicycle. Fuentes fled the scene and was arrested later by Suffolk Police. He faces a series of charges and is to be arraigned Sunday.
Police did not identify the boy, who along with his and bicycle was dragged under Fuentes’ car. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
