Police investigators are looking at speed as a factor in a fatal one-car crash that killed a Brentwood man early Sunday on the eastbound Southern State Parkway in North Amityville, State Police said.

Edwin Rodriguez, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 12:35 a.m. accident near Exit 32, Route 110, police said. Rodriguez's car left the roadway and struck a tree off the right shoulder, police said.

Rodriguez was alone in his car, driving a 2006 Honda Civic, police said.

The cause remains under investigation, said State Police spokesman Frank Bandiero, although speed was probably a factor.
